Relief Mental Health Worker – 988 Call Line

About the role

The Relief Mental Health Worker provides immediate assessment and support to callers of the 9‑8‑8 mental health crisis line, working rotating shifts in a 24‑hour program.

Key responsibilities

• Establish initial contact, assess risk and develop safety plans for callers to the 9‑8‑8 mental health crisis line.
• Provide supportive interventions, referrals to community resources, and navigation of health, housing, financial and legal services.
• Document assessments, case notes and complete administrative tasks in the client record system.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in social or health sciences (or relevant diploma with significant experience).
• Minimum 3 years’ experience delivering case management or community supports in mental health, with crisis intervention and assessment skills.
• Valid driver’s license, satisfactory police check and proof of full COVID‑19 vaccination.

Required skills

• Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training (ASIST) and Verbal Intervention Training.
• Ontario Common Assessment of Need (OCAN) and Client Record Management System (CRMS) proficiency.
• First Aid/CPR certification.

What we offer

• Hourly wage $31.87‑$33.35 plus 6 % vacation pay.
• Overnight shift premium for 9 pm‑8 am shifts.
