Registered Practical Nurse – Trauma & Neurosurgery

About the role

The Trauma Neurosurgery Unit at Unity Health Toronto is seeking a Registered Practical Nurse (RPN) to deliver high‑quality, patient‑centered care in a fast‑paced inpatient environment. You will work alongside an inter‑professional team caring for patients with neurosurgical and trauma conditions.

Key responsibilities

• Provide holistic, evidence‑based nursing care in accordance with College of Nurses of Ontario standards.
• Establish therapeutic relationships and assess patient and family learning needs.
• Develop and implement individualized care plans, coordinating with other health professionals.
• Monitor patient status, recognize rapid changes, and collaborate with Registered Nurses for unstable patients.
• Document assessments, interventions, and outcomes promptly to support effective communication.
• Deliver health education using appropriate teaching strategies.

Required profile

• Current registration as a Practical Nurse in Ontario.
• Ability to work autonomously with stable patients and to consult RN support for complex cases.
• Strong commitment to continuous learning, reflective practice, and nursing excellence.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills within a multidisciplinary setting.
