Registered Practical Nurse (RPN) – Retirement Facility

About the role

RhynoCare is looking for an experienced Registered Practical Nurse (RPN) to provide compassionate, high‑quality care to residents at a retirement facility in North Bay, Ontario. You will join as an independent contractor, working within a multidisciplinary team to ensure the well‑being and comfort of each resident.

Key responsibilities

• Provide safe, competent, and ethical nursing and personal care in accordance with CNO standards, organizational policies, physician orders, and resident care plans.
• Apply evidence‑informed decision making to address residents’ physical, psychological, emotional, cultural, and social needs while promoting dignity and autonomy.
• Support admissions, transfers, and discharges through clear communication and coordination with residents, families, and the healthcare team.
• Administer, control, and safeguard all medications and treatments, including narcotics, in compliance with legislative and organizational requirements.
• Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team, offering leadership and guidance to PSWs and other staff as needed.
• Maintain accurate, timely documentation in line with College of Nurses of Ontario standards.
• Respond promptly to medical emergencies, following established protocols.
• Contribute to a culture of safety and continuous improvement by identifying and reporting risks and incidents.

Required profile

• Current active registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO).
• Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Flexibility to work 8‑ or 12‑hour shifts and to cover different units based on staffing needs.
• Reliability and commitment to scheduled shifts in accordance with RhynoCare’s attendance and cancellation policy.
