Registered Practical Nurse – Primary Care

About the role

As a key member of the multidisciplinary primary health‑care team at Kingston Community Health Centres, the Registered Practical Nurse provides client‑centered, high‑quality care in a general clinic setting, supporting both routine nursing services and preventive health initiatives for a diverse population, including newcomers.

Key responsibilities

• Provide primary health care to clients, including assessment, diagnosis, planning, intervention and evaluation.
• Perform telephone triage, client follow‑up, basic laboratory and phlebotomy procedures (urine tests, glucometer readings, injections, immunizations, etc.).
• Deliver health education, client screening and support newcomer orientation to preventive health services.
• Order and maintain medical, laboratory and harm‑reduction supplies and contribute to quality‑improvement initiatives.

Required profile

• Registered Practical Nurse in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario.
• Minimum three years nursing experience in community or primary‑care settings, with ability to work under Medical Directives.
• Experience serving marginalized populations and understanding of equity, diversity and inclusion principles.
• Current CPR and First Aid certification, valid driver’s licence and access to a vehicle.
