Registered Nurse – Surgical Services

About the role

As a Registered Nurse in the Surgical Services unit of Vermilion Health Centre, you will deliver comprehensive nursing care to patients, families and the community while promoting safety and well‑being. You will apply critical thinking, problem‑solving and decision‑making skills to provide high‑quality, patient‑centred care.

Key responsibilities

• Provide a wide range of nursing services across the surgical continuum.
• Utilise nursing processes to assess, plan, implement and evaluate patient care.
• Teach, counsel and advocate for patients and their families.
• Support an integrated, holistic approach to health promotion and maintenance.
• Lead and collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to ensure safe, quality care.

Required profile

• Completion of an accredited nursing education program.
• Active or eligible registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta.
• Current Basic Cardiac Life Support – Health Care Provider (BCLS‑HCP) certification.
• If not practiced as an RN in the past five years, completion of CRNA Medication Management (Chapters 1‑4) and NextGenU Health Assessment Resources certification prior to start.

Required skills

• Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS‑HCP) certification.

• Competitive hourly wage ranging from $44.56 to $60.98 CAD, with provisional rates of $40.76‑$55.79 for permit holders.
