Registered Nurse – Primary Care (RN)

About the role

The Primary Care Nurse (PCN) at Kitimat General Hospital provides compassionate, patient‑centred care across community settings such as physician practices, homes, schools, and local health networks. Working under the supervision of a manager or designate, the RN follows the standards of the BC College of Nurses and Midwives and contributes to interdisciplinary teams to improve health outcomes.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver direct clinical care to individuals, families, and groups in primary‑care environments.
• Conduct clinical follow‑up aligned with each person’s Primary Care Plan and personal goals.
• Collaborate with physicians, nurse practitioners, First Nations Health Authority partners, and other community providers.
• Participate in the development and evaluation of care plans within the Primary Care Network.
• Maintain accurate documentation and adhere to professional and ethical standards.

Required profile

• Current registration as a Registered Nurse (RN) in British Columbia.
• Commitment to delivering safe, ethical, and culturally responsive care.
• Ability to work effectively within an interprofessional team.
• Willingness to serve diverse community settings, including homes and schools.

Required skills

• Knowledge of BC College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM) standards.
• Proficiency in primary‑care clinical assessment and documentation.
• Understanding of collaborative care planning and patient‑centred goal setting.
