Registered Nurse – Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU)

About the role

Join an interdisciplinary team in the Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) at Horizon Health Network in Fredericton. The Registered Nurse Class A (RNCA) provides high‑quality post‑operative assessment and care, ensuring patient safety and comfort during recovery.

Key responsibilities

• Perform comprehensive post‑operative assessments and deliver evidence‑based nursing care.
• Respond promptly to emergency situations and rapidly changing patient conditions.
• Collaborate with physicians, anesthesiologists, and allied health professionals to coordinate care plans.
• Maintain accurate documentation in accordance with hospital policies and regulatory standards.
• Participate in quality improvement initiatives and uphold confidentiality standards.

Required profile

• Current NANB registration or eligibility for registration.
• Minimum two years recent experience in PACU or adult critical care.
• Ability to work rotating shifts, including weekends and holidays, and be on‑call within 30 minutes.
• Strong communication, teamwork, and critical‑thinking skills.

Required skills

• BCMI certification.
• CVAD certification.
• Electrical Therapy Modules 1, 2 and 3.
• Arterial line competency.
• Certification in extubation within two months of hire.
• Advanced airway management expertise.
