Registered Nurse – Operating Room Training Opportunity

About the role

Providence Health Care, in partnership with BCIT, offers a fully funded peri‑operative education program that prepares registered nurses for a career in the Operating Room (OR). Upon successful completion you will receive an AORN Perioperative Nursing Certificate and a full‑time RN position at Mount St. Joseph Hospital.

Key responsibilities

• Assess patients' physical, social, spiritual and psychological needs.
• Develop, implement and evaluate individualized care plans.
• Incorporate teaching into care plans to educate patients and families.
• Make referrals to appropriate resources and support fellow healthcare professionals.
• Collaborate with an interdisciplinary team to ensure safe, high‑quality patient care.

Required profile

• Current Registered Nurse licence in British Columbia.
• Willingness to complete the BCIT peri‑operative program and commit to 18 months of full‑time service with Providence Health Care after graduation.
• Ability to pass a criminal record check and any required testing.

Required skills

• Knowledge of peri‑operative nursing practices.
• Strong assessment and care‑planning abilities.
• Effective communication and teamwork in a high‑stress environment.
