Registered Nurse – Casual Position in Thunder Bay

About the role

Southbridge Care Homes is seeking a Casual Registered Nurse (RN) to join its long‑term care team in Thunder Bay, Ontario. The RN will support resident wellbeing by administering medications, treatments, and assessments while collaborating with multidisciplinary staff.

Key responsibilities

• Provide resident care in accordance with nursing standards, physicians’ orders, and facility policies.
• Observe, record, and report vital signs, symptoms, and changes in resident condition.
• Develop, implement, review, and evaluate individualized resident care plans.
• Monitor health status, identify needs for physician referral, and act on physicians’ orders.
• Plan, direct, supervise, and evaluate nursing and personal care staff on the unit.
• Orient, train, and conduct performance appraisals for new and existing staff.
• Assist with RAI MDS preparation and assume charge of the facility in the Director of Care’s absence.

Required profile

• Current certificate of competence from the College of Nurses of Ontario.
• Registration or eligibility for registration with the Registered Nurses Association of Ontario.
• Current First Aid and BLS certification.
• Experience working with cognitively impaired seniors preferred.
• Strong knowledge of infection control practices.
• Ability to work independently and prioritize urgent tasks.
