Registered Early Childhood Educator – Rockton BASP Program

About the role

We are looking for a dynamic, highly motivated Registered Early Childhood Educator to join our Before and After School (BASP) program at Rockton Elementary School. The role involves creating a positive learning environment that supports children’s emotional, social, cognitive and physical development while working collaboratively with a dedicated team.

Key responsibilities

• Develop, plan, promote, implement and evaluate daily program operations with supervision support.
• Design programming aligned with the Ministry of Education’s “How Does Learning Happen?” framework and the “Tools for Life” curriculum.
• Create and maintain a safe, responsive learning environment that meets children’s interests and needs.
• Provide quality, play‑based learning and supervise all children in care at all times.
• Ensure program compliance with licensing requirements and meet program needs.
• Welcome, support and interact with clients from diverse cultural backgrounds, newcomers, LGBTQ2S+ individuals, young parents and others.

Required profile

• Diploma or degree in Early Childhood Education with registration with the College of Early Childhood Educators, or a diploma/degree in Child and Youth Work.
• Minimum two years’ experience working with school‑age children and their families, preferably in a before‑and‑after‑school setting.
• Experience collaborating with parents and community partners.
• Thorough knowledge of the Child Care and Early Years Act (2014) and related legislation.
• Current certifications in First Aid/CPR, Safe Food Handling and Non‑Violent Crisis Intervention.
