Red Seal Heavy Duty Mechanic – 2‑Week Fly‑In/Out Assignment

About the role

Sandvik Mining is looking for a Red Seal‑qualified Heavy Duty Mechanic to join its Field Service team on a 2‑week fly‑in/fly‑out schedule in British Columbia. The role involves maintaining, repairing and commissioning surface mining equipment for our customers, ensuring optimal performance and safety.

Key responsibilities

• Inspect mining equipment, diagnose faults and determine required repairs.
• Adjust, repair or replace defective mechanical, hydraulic or electrical components according to work orders.
• Test repaired equipment to verify proper operation.
• Commission new equipment and provide on‑site training to customers.
• Complete accurate time records, technical and failure reports, and parts lists.
• Participate in continuous‑improvement initiatives and adhere to health‑safety policies.

Required profile

• Valid Red Seal Heavy Duty Mechanic certification.
• At least three years of experience working on mining equipment (experience with Sandvik equipment is an asset).
• Ability to read and interpret hydraulic and electrical schematics.
• Commitment to safety procedures and risk assessments.
