R&D Mechanical Engineer – Product Support

About the role

ABB is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to join its R&D team in Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu. You will support product maintenance and innovation across the Electrification, Installation Products division, working in a hybrid environment.

Key responsibilities

• Contribute to R&D, supply‑chain, quality and manufacturing projects.
• Act as the primary contact for maintenance requests and product‑portfolio support.
• Create specifications, conduct FMEA, and validate quality criteria to ensure product safety.
• Solve technical problems using your area of expertise.
• Support product‑maintenance initiatives such as supplier changes, production change requests and quality issue resolutions.
• Participate in R&D innovation projects by performing tests, joining creative sessions and producing product drawings.
• Help achieve project objectives (quality, deadlines, scope, cost) and manage associated risks.
• Carry out project‑management responsibilities aligned with ABB’s strategic direction.

Required profile

• Degree in mechanical or electrical engineering.
• Approximately 5 years of experience in similar functions.
• Bilingual French‑English; English required for external client communication.
• Experience in modeling and technical drawing.
• Project‑management experience is an asset.
• Familiarity with CSA, UL or other certification codes is a plus.
• Experience with sheet‑metal work and plastic injection molding is a plus.
• Proactive attitude and rigorous work style.
