Provider Relations Representative – Contact Centre

About the role

Alberta Blue Cross is seeking a Provider Relations Representative to work in its Contact Centre. The role involves handling telephone inquiries from pharmacies, dental offices and other health care providers regarding benefit eligibility, claim submissions and related questions.

Key responsibilities

• Answer provider calls about subscriber verification, benefit eligibility, plan limits, prior approvals and claim status.
• Verify claims using online adjudication systems.
• Record call details, forward provider feedback to managers, and log interactions.
• Suggest improvements to workflows and processes.
• Support projects and analyses using Microsoft Excel, Word and other software.
• Assist with additional duties as required.

Required profile

• Ability to handle complex inquiries independently with strong listening and problem‑solving skills.
• Professional telephone manner and ability to work effectively in a busy environment.
• Research and analytical skills to identify root causes of issues.
• High attention to detail, strong organizational abilities and a commitment to continuous learning.
• Ownership of information provided to providers and delivery of advanced customer service.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Microsoft Office, especially Word and Excel.
• Customer service experience, preferably in person or over the phone.
• Medical, dental or pharmacy background or familiarity with health procedures and drug names is an asset.
