Project Superintendent – Mining Capital Projects

About the role

The Project Superintendent will report to the Project Manager and lead the planning, execution, and safe delivery of capital projects at the Hemlo gold mining operation in Northwestern Ontario. This senior position ensures projects are completed on schedule, within budget, and to the highest safety, quality, environmental, and regulatory standards.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee field execution of assigned capital projects, coordinating contractors and internal teams.
• Develop and maintain project schedules, budgets, and resource plans.
• Ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements.
• Collaborate with Operations, Maintenance, Technical Services, Environmental, Supply Chain, Finance, and external contractors.
• Report progress, risks, and issues to the Project Manager and senior leadership.

Required profile

• B.Sc or B.Eng in Engineering or a related technical field (preferred but not mandatory).
• Minimum 10 years of progressive experience in mining, industrial construction, or heavy‑industrial operations.
• At least 5 years leading capital projects with full responsibility for safety, budget, schedule, and contractor management.
• Proven experience managing underground and surface mining projects, including processing and tailings facilities.
• Project Management Professional (PMP) training or certification is an asset.

Required skills

• Project Management Professional (PMP) certification (preferred).
• Proficiency with project management software and tools.
