Project Manager – Ravines & Waterways

About the role

The City of Hamilton is seeking a Project Manager to lead capital rehabilitation projects that restore and stabilise ravine and waterway corridors. The role involves overseeing reconstruction, erosion protection and the integration of related infrastructure such as storm‑water outfalls, road embankments and sewer crossings.

Key responsibilities

• Manage large‑scale capital construction projects, ensuring compliance with City, provincial and federal regulations.
• Coordinate consultants, technical staff and contractors, developing project charters, terms of reference and design documentation.
• Monitor schedules, budgets and performance, recommending adjustments as needed and overseeing contractor performance appraisals.

Required profile

• At least ten years of progressive civil engineering and construction experience, typically with a degree in civil engineering or civil engineering technology.
• Strong knowledge of drainage, storm‑water management, hydraulic performance evaluation and related geotechnical parameters.
• Proven leadership, analytical ability and excellent communication skills in a predominantly unionised environment.

Required skills

• Civil engineering design and construction principles.
• Storm‑water management and hydraulic modelling software.
• Project and asset management, contract administration and QA/QC processes.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
• Valid Ontario Class “G” driver’s licence.
