Project Manager – Capital Projects

About the role

Metrolinx is seeking experienced Project Managers to lead the planning, design and construction of capital transit infrastructure across the Greater Golden Horseshoe. The role involves overseeing projects from initial concept through commissioning and close‑out, ensuring they meet budget, schedule and quality commitments.

Key responsibilities

• Manage multiple complex capital projects through all phases, including planning, engineering, design, construction and final completion.
• Coordinate tendering, contract award, purchase orders, change orders and addenda for consultants, suppliers and contractors.
• Oversee site activities, conduct site walks, verify progress and document conditions.
• Process RFIs and submittals, maintain workflow continuity during transitions, and manage deficiency rectification.
• Identify design alternatives, value‑engineering opportunities and cost‑saving measures.
• Monitor project budgets, forecasts and financial reporting using advanced project‑management software.
• Facilitate expert review of consultant studies, design proposals and contract documents for compliance with Metrolinx policies.

Required profile

• Proven experience managing large‑scale infrastructure projects in the transit or construction sector.
• Strong knowledge of procurement processes, including Design‑Build, Joint Venture and Construction Manager at Risk.
• Ability to manage project scope, contracts and stakeholder relationships.
• Excellent analytical skills for cost estimation, budgeting and financial reporting.
