Project Assistant – Fixed‑Term (Thunder Bay)

About the role

Valard Construction is seeking a detail‑oriented Project Assistant to support on‑site project teams in Thunder Bay on a fixed‑term basis (July 2026 – July 2027). The role operates on a 20‑days‑on/8‑days‑off rotation and provides comprehensive administrative and financial support.

Key responsibilities

• Financial & procurement support: accounts receivable/payable, invoice review, purchase order requests, packing slip collection, procurement assistance, PO closeout, and expense report processing.
• Timesheet support: verify accuracy and enter data into Valard’s payroll system.
• Travel coordination: arrange flights, accommodation, and shuttle services as needed.
• IT requests: assist on‑site staff with IT issues and submit service tickets.
• Report preparation: gather, enter, and distribute daily, weekly, and monthly data reports.
• General administrative duties and participation in Valard safety programs.
• Document management: maintain hard‑copy records, update Foremen binders with new drawings.

Required profile

• 3‑5 years of experience in a similar project support role.
• At least 2 years in an administrative capacity.
• Knowledge of material management and purchasing requirements.
• Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
• Post‑secondary degree or diploma in Business Administration (preferred).
• Experience in construction or utility environments and familiarity with JD Edwards.
