Program Instructor – Recreation Classes

About the role

The City of Belleville is seeking two part‑time Program Instructors to design and deliver recreation classes for preschool, children and youth. You will create lesson plans covering art, science and sports, and lead engaging sessions in a safe, supportive environment.

Key responsibilities

• Represent the City professionally and uphold departmental policies.
• Plan, develop, implement, supervise and evaluate class activities.
• Ensure participant safety, maintain attendance records, and monitor health conditions.
• Complete required administrative forms such as lesson plans, injury reports and supply requests.
• Provide quality customer service and resolve issues that arise during sessions.
• Respond to emergencies, complete incident reports and follow up as required.
• Maintain cleanliness and proper care of equipment, supplies and facilities.
• Attend scheduled staff meetings and training sessions.

Required profile

• Minimum two years’ experience planning and leading children/youth programs.
• High Five – Principles of Healthy Child Development certification.
• Current Standard First Aid and CPR ‘C’ certification (or equivalent recognized by WSIB).
• Successful Criminal Record Check and Vulnerable Sector Screening.
• Post‑secondary education in a child/youth‑related field is an asset.
• Coaching or instructing certification (e.g., National Coaching Certificate) is desirable.
