Program Assistant – Graham Sommer Competition

About the role

The Program Assistant supports the planning, coordination, and execution of the Graham Sommer Competition at McGill's Schulich School of Music. Reporting to the Production, Events and Communications Administrator, the incumbent ensures smooth competition operations and a high‑quality experience for participants, jury members, and guests.

Key responsibilities

• Administer day‑to‑day operations of the Graham Sommer Competition, including registration and record‑keeping.
• Develop and maintain content for the competition website, social media channels, and email campaigns.
• Coordinate travel, accommodation, ground transportation, and hospitality for competitors, jury members, guest artists, and other participants.
• Provide administrative support for jury activities such as scheduling, document preparation, and distribution of evaluation materials.
• Track operational and administrative expenses, ensuring alignment with approved budgets.
• Prepare correspondence, reports, schedules, itineraries, and other required documentation.
• Respond to inquiries from participants, jury members, guests, and the public in a professional and timely manner.
• Assist with marketing and promotional activities leading up to the competition.
• Offer on‑site event support during rehearsals, performances, meetings, and special events.
