Professional-Track Faculty Position in Information Science

About the role

The School of Information Science at the University of South Carolina seeks a full‑time professional‑track faculty member to begin August 16, 2026. The role focuses on teaching and research in user experience, AI ethics, cybersecurity, information integrity, and the societal impact of data.

Key responsibilities

• Teach undergraduate courses and, when possible, graduate courses in areas such as user experience research and design, social and ethical dimensions of AI and data analytics, cybersecurity in organizational contexts, information integrity, media literacy, and data‑driven policy.
• Deliver courses in face‑to‑face, online, or hybrid formats.
• Participate in shared governance, departmental service, and university‑wide initiatives.

Required profile

• Ph.D. or Master’s degree in Information Science or a closely related field by the start date.
• Minimum of two years of professional or academic experience in fields such as information integrity, user experience research/design, data ethics and policy, organizational communication, social impacts of AI, or cybersecurity.
