Production Monitor / Assistant

About the role

Join Vegfresh Inc.’s fresh‑produce processing plant in Toronto as a Production Monitor / Assistant. You will support daily operations, oversee a team of production workers, and ensure equipment runs efficiently while maintaining food‑safety and quality standards.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in monitoring a team of production workers to meet daily output goals.
• Monitor equipment performance (peelers, dicers, conveyors, optical sorters, onion peelers) and coordinate with maintenance for repairs or adjustments.
• Ensure adherence to HACCP food‑safety standards and quality‑control processes.
• Train and mentor staff on operating procedures and safety protocols.
• Track production metrics and help prepare shift reports for management.
• Step in to operate equipment or assist the team during peak production periods.
• Resolve minor operational issues and escalate complex problems to senior supervisors.
• Maintain a clean and organized production floor in compliance with health and safety regulations.

Required profile

• High School Diploma or equivalent; a diploma or degree in Food Science, Operations Management, or related field is an asset.
• 2‑4 years of experience in a production or supervisory role, preferably in food processing.
• Familiarity with industrial food‑processing equipment such as conveyors, sorters, and peelers.
• Knowledge of food‑safety regulations and quality‑assurance practices (e.g., HACCP).
• Strong communication and organizational abilities.
• Physical ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 50 lb.
• Permanent Resident or Canadian Citizen status.

Required skills

• Industrial food‑processing equipment (peelers, dicers, conveyors, optical sorters, onion peelers).
• Production and inventory management systems.
• Microsoft Office (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
