Product Development Engineering Intern

About the role

3M is looking for a Product Development Engineering Intern to join its R&D Lab team in Brockville, Ontario. The 12‑ or 16‑month internship is ideal for a mechanical or manufacturing engineering student who wants hands‑on experience developing respiratory protection products.

Key responsibilities

• Assemble respirator cartridge prototypes and prepare raw materials and sub‑components.
• Execute experiments to improve filter and cartridge performance.
• Test prototypes using standard test methods and analyze the resulting data.
• Support scale‑up experiments in a manufacturing environment.
• Document experimental findings and present progress updates at team meetings.
• Recommend process and design improvements based on test results.

Required profile

• Enrolled in an undergraduate Engineering or Science program (mechanical or manufacturing focus preferred).
• Ability to obtain Controlled Goods clearance (Canadian citizen or permanent resident residing in Canada).
• Full‑time onsite availability for the duration of the internship.
