Probationary Teacher – Learning Support & Grade 8 ELA

About the role

We are seeking a full‑time probationary teacher to join Harry Collinge High School in Hinton, Alberta. The position combines learning‑support responsibilities with classroom teaching for Grade 8 English Language Arts in a dual‑track English/French immersion environment.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver student‑centred instruction in Grade 8 ELA, using a variety of teaching methods such as lectures, demonstrations and discussions.
• Provide learning‑support services (0.5 FTE) for students with complex needs, including development and monitoring of Individual Support Plans.
• Collaborate with educational assistants, families, staff and administration to ensure effective ISP implementation.
• Assess student performance, maintain records and meet all reporting deadlines in accordance with provincial legislation and board policies.
• Engage in professional development and contribute to a positive school community.

Required profile

• Alberta Teaching Certificate (or eligibility).
• Bachelor’s degree in Education.
• Experience applying the Teaching Quality Standard and integrating literacy across the curriculum.
• Ability to manage a high‑demand workload and work collaboratively.

Required skills

• Proficiency with educational technology tools.
