Powerline Technician (Journeyperson Certified)

About the role

Spark Power is seeking a certified Powerline Technician to join its London, Ontario team. You will install, maintain and repair overhead and underground electrical systems, including power lines, cables, street lighting and related equipment.

Key responsibilities

• Ensure compliance with health and safety requirements on all job sites.
• Install, maintain and repair overhead and underground power lines, cables, insulators, lightning arrestors, switches, transformers and street lighting.
• Connect and insulate conductors and related wiring.
• Climb ladders, operate hydraulic buckets, bucket trucks and radial boom derricks on poles and towers.
• Inspect completed work against drawings, codes and regulations.
• Coordinate with local electrical inspection authorities for code approval.
• Manage inventory and perform other duties as assigned.

Required profile

• Journeyperson certification as a Powerline Technician (MEARIE or IHSA Red Seal 434A or equivalent).
• Valid driver’s licence (DZ or AZ) and ability to provide a Powerline Technician qualification certificate.
• Training in Working at Heights, Pole‑Top and Bucket Rescue, and Bucket Evacuation.

Required skills

• Operation of bucket trucks, radial boom derricks and hydraulic equipment.
• Live‑line work, including stick work and rubber‑glove techniques.
• Working at heights and pole‑top rescue procedures.
• Installation, maintenance and repair of overhead and underground electrical systems.
