Postmaster (Community Leader) – Full‑time

About the role

The Postmaster is the public face of Canada Post in the Valley Pond community, responsible for promoting and selling postal products and services while supervising staff and ensuring smooth daily operations.

Key responsibilities

• Liaise with the local community regarding Canada Post services and products.
• Sell and promote postal products and services to the public and businesses.
• Provide suitable, centrally located premises within 30 days of hire.
• Administer the post office to meet retail hours and delivery expectations.
• Manage postal revenue, assets and values.
• Maintain records and prepare reports.
• Assist with effective management of mail delivery routes.
• Sort mail to postal boxes as needed.
• Supervise staff and ensure a neat, presentable office.
• Operate the post office with diligence and efficiency.

Required profile

• High School Diploma or provincial equivalency, or equivalent business administration experience.
• Owned or leased premises (suitable, central, barrier‑free) available one month prior to hire.
• Experience interacting with the public in a retail or service environment, including sales and cash transactions.
• Knowledge of regulations, methods and procedures for processing mail and providing postal services.
• Physical ability to lift mail containers up to 50 lb, push/pull boxes, sort mail and stand for extended periods.
• Premises must be fully accessible to persons with disabilities and approved before hire.
• Responsibility for rent/lease charges, utilities, maintenance, taxes and required insurance.
