Postdoctoral Fellow – Computational Biology (Epigenomics)

About the role

The Department of Microbiology and Immunology at the University of British Columbia is seeking a Postdoctoral Fellow to join the Epigenomics Laboratory under Dr. Martin Hirst. The role focuses on computational investigation of epigenetic mechanisms driving synovial sarcoma.

Key responsibilities

• Characterize genomic, epigenomic and transcriptomic landscapes of synovial sarcoma using single‑cell multi‑omics.
• Investigate epigenetic evolution and mechanisms of disease progression.
• Apply spatially resolved genomic technologies to study immune‑tumor interactions.
• Explore epigenetic dependencies such as bivalent promoters and DNA hypomethylation.
• Identify biomarkers for diagnosis, risk stratification and therapeutic response.
• Support development of epigenetic‑based therapeutic strategies.

Required profile

• PhD in Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, Statistics, Genetics, Genomics or a related discipline.
• Demonstrated expertise in next‑generation sequencing data analysis.
