Postal Clerk - Retail and Operations

About the role

Canada Post is looking for a temporary Postal Clerk to work in its Sioux Lookout retail and mail‑operations centre. The role involves a mix of customer‑facing sales duties and behind‑the‑scenes mail handling, with flexible shift options including days, evenings, overnights and weekends.

Key responsibilities

• Provide sales and customer service at the counter, ensuring customer satisfaction.
• Operate the computer point‑of‑sale (POS) system for transactions.
• Maintain floor displays, merchandising and inventory control.
• Process financial transactions (cash, cheques, debit/credit cards).
• Receive, sort, sequence, batch and review mail items for address accuracy and proper postage.
• Operate mail‑processing equipment, clear jams and move mail between floors using rolling or motorised equipment.
• Perform data entry tasks as required.
• Stand for up to 3.5 hours and handle mail items up to 22.7 kg.

Required profile

• Experience in customer service within a retail environment.
• Sales experience is an asset.
• Experience working in a production or mail‑handling environment is an asset.
• Ability to work flexible hours and on‑call schedule.

Required skills

• Operation of a POS (point‑of‑sale) system.
• Use of mail‑processing equipment and sorting machines.
• Basic computer data‑entry skills.
