Platform & Infrastructure Engineer

About the role

Q-Block Computing is looking for a Platform & Infrastructure Engineer to design, build and maintain the distributed computing and networking backbone that connects control hardware to coherent, observable systems. The role spans embedded Linux on ARM modules, multi-tier network architectures, and a web-based management layer that enables scalable operation. You will work closely with firmware, hardware and scientific teams and report to the Technical Lead.

Key responsibilities

• Create and maintain embedded Linux images for ARM compute modules using Yocto, Buildroot or similar tools.
• Architect multi-tier LAN environments with VLANs, QoS policies, managed Ethernet switches and isolated address spaces.
• Deploy core network services such as DNS, DHCP, NFS and time-synchronization across tiered topologies.
• Develop and support a web-based management application for real-time device monitoring, topology visualization and command distribution.
• Automate provisioning, deployment and configuration with Python, Bash and Ansible across a growing fleet of devices.
• Implement monitoring and observability stacks (e.g., Prometheus, Grafana) to track network health and system performance.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering or a related field.
• 4+ years of professional experience in at least two of embedded Linux development, network infrastructure design, or full-stack web application development.
• Strong Linux/UNIX expertise including kernel configuration, systemd, device trees and image creation for embedded targets.
• Solid understanding of TCP/UDP, VLAN design, DHCP/DNS, managed switch configuration and security hardening.

• Web‑frontend framework (e.g., React, Angular) and backend framework (e.g., Node.js, Django).
• Observability tools such as Prometheus and Grafana.
