Plant Operator

About the role

The Plant Operator (Process Supervisor) will oversee daily operations at an anaerobic digestion (AD) plant, ensuring safe, efficient, and compliant production. This role reports to the Plant Manager and works closely with maintenance and safety teams.

Key responsibilities

• Adjust and control critical systems such as pumps, blowers, sludge handling equipment, and chemical metering to maintain steady‑state operation.
• Conduct daily rounds to monitor equipment, identify deficiencies, and report safety concerns.
• Create and track maintenance work requests, coordinating with the Maintenance Manager to ensure timely repairs.
• Lead pre‑shift meetings and shift changeovers to communicate operational updates and improvement ideas.
• Coordinate transportation of residual and digestate trailers.
• Perform daily chemical inventory and place orders as needed.
• Drive production optimization efforts, monitor plant parameters, and lead continuous‑improvement initiatives.
• Ensure compliance with environmental regulations, including spill control and discharge limits.
• Maintain safety standards and housekeeping in accordance with Veolia policies.

Required profile

• Experience operating industrial water or waste treatment equipment.
• Strong understanding of safety and environmental compliance in a plant setting.
• Ability to coordinate maintenance activities and lead shift teams.
