Pharmacy Assistant – Part‑time (0.5 FTE)

About the role

The Winnipeg Regional Health Authority is seeking a part‑time Pharmacy Assistant to support the delivery of safe and effective medication services across its Health Sciences Centre. Working under the Drug Distribution Manager and a pharmacist, you will contribute to the full medication lifecycle in a hospital environment.

Key responsibilities

• Procure, store, and manage inventory of pharmaceuticals.
• Record, manufacture, compound, dispense, package, label, price, issue, and distribute medications according to departmental policies.
• Operate automated dispensing cabinets and maintain accurate computer records.
• Travel to other WRHA sites as required and work day and evening shifts.

Required profile

• Grade 12 education and graduation from a recognized pharmacy assistant program.
• One year of experience as a Pharmacy Assistant or Technician in a hospital setting (preferred).
• Pharmacy Technician Certificate or equivalent qualification.
• Ability to work independently, manage multiple tasks, and maintain patient confidentiality.

Required skills

• Knowledge of Automated Dispensing Cabinet distribution processes.
• Familiarity with pharmacy computer systems and related software.
• Understanding of medical terminology.
• Proficiency in pharmaceutical calculations.
• Basic information‑systems technology skills.
