Pharmacy Assistant – Part‑time (0.5 FTE)

About the role

The Winnipeg Regional Health Authority is seeking a part‑time Pharmacy Assistant to support the Drug Distribution team at the Health Sciences Centre. Working under the direction of a Pharmacist and the Drug Distribution Manager, you will help ensure safe and efficient handling of pharmaceuticals for hospital patients.

Key responsibilities

• Procure, store, and manage inventory of pharmaceuticals.
• Record, manufacture, compound, dispense, package, label, price, issue and distribute medications in line with departmental policies.
• Operate and support Automated Dispensing Cabinets and related distribution processes.
• Maintain accurate documentation and comply with regulatory and safety standards.
• Provide coverage across days, evenings, and weekends as required.

Required profile

• Completed Grade 12 and graduation from a recognized pharmacy assistant program.
• Pharmacy Technician Certificate or equivalent; one year of hospital pharmacy assistant/technician experience preferred.
• Current or prior enrollment in a CCAPP‑accredited Pharmacy Technician program (minimum 50 % completion) is an asset.
• Ability to work independently, manage multiple tasks, and maintain confidentiality.
• Physical ability to stand, lift, and perform repetitive motions; occasional travel to other sites.

Required skills

• Knowledge of Automated Dispensing Cabinet distribution processes.
• Familiarity with pharmacy computer systems and related software.
• Understanding of medical terminology.
• Competency in pharmaceutical calculations.
