Pharmacy Assistant (Maternity Leave Cover)

About the role

The Winnipeg Regional Health Authority is seeking a Pharmacy Assistant to provide essential support during a maternity leave period. Working under the Drug Distribution Manager and a pharmacist, you will ensure safe and efficient handling of pharmaceuticals across the Concordia Hospital site.

Key responsibilities

• Procure, store, and manage inventory of pharmaceuticals.
• Record, manufacture, compound, dispense, package, label, price, and issue medications.
• Operate automated dispensing cabinets and maintain accurate distribution logs.
• Collaborate with pharmacy staff to ensure compliance with departmental policies.
• Travel to other sites as needed for distribution tasks.

Required profile

• Completion of Grade 12 and a recognized pharmacy assistant program.
• One year of experience as a Pharmacy Assistant or Technician in a hospital setting (preferred).
• Current satisfactory criminal records, vulnerable sector, child abuse, and adult abuse checks.
• Ability to work independently, manage multiple tasks, and maintain confidentiality.

Required skills

• Knowledge of Automated Dispensing Cabinet distribution processes.
• Familiarity with pharmacy computer systems and related software.
• Understanding of medical terminology.
• Proficiency in pharmaceutical calculations.
