Pharmacy Assistant – Hospital (Winnipeg)

About the role

The Pharmacy Assistant works under the direction of the Drug Distribution Manager and a pharmacist to ensure safe and efficient handling of pharmaceuticals within the Grace Hospital network. This position supports the full medication lifecycle, from procurement to patient delivery, while adhering to WRHA policies and regulatory standards.

Key responsibilities

• Procure, store, and manage inventory of pharmaceutical products.
• Record, compound, dispense, package, label, price, and distribute medications.
• Operate and maintain automated dispensing cabinets.
• Utilise pharmacy computer systems for order entry, tracking, and documentation.
• Assist with medication safety checks and ensure compliance with legal and institutional guidelines.

Required profile

• Completion of Grade 12 and a recognized pharmacy assistant program.
• One year of experience as a Pharmacy Assistant or Technician in a hospital setting (preferred).
• Current satisfactory criminal records, vulnerable sector, child abuse and adult abuse checks.
• Ability to work independently, manage multiple tasks and maintain confidentiality.
