Pharmacy Assistant (Hospital)

About the role

The Winnipeg Regional Health Authority is seeking a Pharmacy Assistant to support the Grace Hospital pharmacy team. Working under the Drug Distribution Manager and a pharmacist, you will ensure safe and efficient handling of pharmaceuticals across all distribution processes.

Key responsibilities

• Procure, store, and manage inventory of pharmaceuticals.
• Record, manufacture, compound, dispense, package, label, price, issue, and distribute medications.
• Maintain accurate documentation and comply with departmental policies.
• Support confidentiality and uphold the WRHA Pharmacy Program’s mission.
• Perform physical tasks such as standing, lifting, and repetitive motions, and travel to other sites as needed.

Required profile

• Complete Grade 12 education and graduation from a recognized pharmacy assistant program.
• Pharmacy Technician Certificate from a recognized program.
• One year of hospital pharmacy assistant or technician experience preferred.
• Current satisfactory Criminal Records Check, Vulnerable Sector Search, Child Abuse Registry, and Adult Abuse Registry.
• Ability to work independently, manage multiple tasks, and maintain fine‑motor dexterity.

Required skills

• Knowledge of Automated Dispensing Cabinet distribution processes.
• Familiarity with pharmacy computer systems and related software.
• Understanding of medical terminology.
• Competency in pharmaceutical calculations.

• Full‑time schedule (7.5 hours per day, 1950 annual base hours) with days, evenings, and weekends.
• Hourly wage ranging from $29.103 to $33.744 CAD.
