Personal Support Worker – Nursing Care

About the role

The Personal Support Worker will provide direct nursing care to patients at McDowells Medical Clinic in Nepean, Ontario. You will assist with daily living activities, support clinical staff, and ensure a safe, comfortable environment for residents in various care settings.

Key responsibilities

• Supply and empty bed pans, serve meal trays, and feed patients as needed.
• Weigh, lift, turn, and position patients safely, following Moving Patients Safety Principles.
• Deliver messages, reports, requisitions, and specimens between departments.
• Make beds, maintain patient rooms, and manage inventory of supplies.
• Bath, dress, and groom patients, and transport them in wheelchairs or stretchers.
• Answer call signals, collect specimens, and respond to patient needs promptly.

Required profile

• College/CEGEP education or equivalent experience; 7‑12 months experience in a similar role.
• Certifications: Moving Patients Safety Principles training, Continuing Care Assistant, First Aid, Nursing Aide, Health Care Aide.
• Clear criminal record, vulnerable sector check, TB test; ability to handle up to 45 kg and work in a fast‑paced, physically demanding environment.
