About the role

The Durham District School Board is seeking a dedicated Permanent Teacher for Grade 1. In this full‑time position you will create a vibrant, supportive learning environment where young learners thrive and develop a love for learning.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and deliver engaging, curriculum‑aligned lessons for Grade 1 students.
• Assess and monitor student progress, providing constructive feedback.
• Foster a positive, inclusive classroom where every student feels valued.
• Collaborate with colleagues, parents, and the community to enhance student learning.
• Adapt teaching methods and materials to meet diverse student needs.

Required profile

• Primary subject qualification.
• Ontario teaching certificate (OCT) in good standing.
• Full‑time equivalent (FTE) of 1.0, Grade 1 assignment.
• Willingness to provide a current Criminal Background Check with vulnerable sector screening upon hire.
• Understanding that external hires may require up to 10 working days for processing.
