Permanent Educational Assistant (10‑month term)

About the role

The Wellington Catholic District School Board is seeking a dedicated Educational Assistant to support exceptional students at St. Mary Catholic Elementary School in Mount Forest. The position starts on September 2, 2026, works 35 hours per week (7 hours per day), and offers a competitive hourly wage.

Key responsibilities

• Assist individual students or small groups as identified by the site‑based special education team.
• Support the development, implementation, and reporting of Individual Education Plans (IEPs).
• Provide assistance with daily routines such as eating, hygiene, washroom use, physical exercise, communication, life skills, and lunch supervision.
• Maintain strict confidentiality for staff and students while fostering a caring and professional environment.

Required profile

• Previous experience as an Educational Assistant within the board or a similar setting.
• Completion of at least two years of post‑secondary education in a child development or special‑education related program (e.g., Educational Assistant certificate, Early Childhood Educator diploma).
• Ability to work under the direction of the principal, classroom teacher, and special‑education resource teacher.

Required skills

• Knowledge of IEP processes and special‑education practices.
• Ability to support students with diverse needs in areas such as personal care, communication, and physical activities.
