Peer Specialist – Coming Full Circle Project

About the role

The Coming Full Circle (CFC) Peer Specialist provides emotional, social and practical support to individuals in Haliburton County who face challenges related to substance use and mental health. The role focuses on harm‑reduction, fostering hope, acceptance and belonging while connecting clients to community resources.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver individual and group support, co‑host support groups and educational events for clients and the public.
• Assist clients in accessing mental‑health, housing, food, education and employment services.
• Develop and maintain partnerships with local service providers and participate in collaborative projects.
• Maintain accurate documentation, including CRM system entries, and submit reports on time.
• Stay current with relevant legislation, CFC guidelines and best practices through training and supervision.
• Ensure compliance with occupational health and safety regulations and client safety protocols.

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent, plus relevant lived experience with mental health or substance use.
• Personal commitment to ongoing recovery and willingness to support others in their recovery journeys.
• Completion of health and safety certifications (e.g., WHMIS, Infection Prevention & Control, Workplace Violence, First Aid/CPR, Naloxone).
• Experience in crisis or community‑based mental‑health settings, suicide prevention or trauma‑informed care is an asset.
• Positive energy, enthusiasm and ability to engage and motivate clients.
