Payroll & Customer Services Representative

About the role

This full‑time position supports the payroll function for a large health organization. Working under general supervision, you will handle electronic data transfers, off‑cycle cheque preparation, and a range of payroll‑related inquiries.

Key responsibilities

• Transfer timesheet data from the time administration system to Peoplesoft.
• Respond to payroll policy inquiries, make corrections, and process adjustments such as overtime, increments, and voluntary deductions.
• Calculate and issue off‑cycle cheques for vacation, terminations, retirements, leaves of absence, and retroactive contract payments.
• Maintain payroll data including direct deposit details, statutory and voluntary deductions, and personal information.
• Prepare separation certificates, earnings inquiry reports, and respond to Employment Insurance Commission calls.
• Review time records for coding accuracy, advise departments of errors, and adjust payroll entries as needed.
• Provide staff and external agencies with information on payroll contracts, benefits, and entitlements.
• Verify exception reports, reconcile payroll journals, and run queries to ensure accuracy.
• Calculate garnishee and court‑order deductions and communicate details to affected employees.
• Review payroll remittance reports and coordinate with Accounts Payable for agency payments.

Required profile

• Ability to perform electronic data transfers and maintain accurate payroll records.
• Strong attention to detail for verifying calculations, coding, and statutory compliance.
• Experience handling payroll inquiries, adjustments, and off‑cycle payments.
• Familiarity with collective agreements and payroll policies.
