Patient Admin Associate – Part‑Time (K3E Acute)

About the role

The Patient Admin Associate (PAA) supports the K3E Acute inpatient unit by managing patient flow, handling administrative tasks and ensuring accurate record‑keeping. This part‑time position works closely with clinical staff to deliver person‑centred care.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate patient flow and daily patient activities within the unit.
• Provide administrative services including staffing, scheduling and payroll support.
• Maintain and update patient records and related documentation.
• Deliver administrative assistance to the patient care team, ensuring timely information exchange.
• Handle confidential information with tact, especially for oncology patients and families.

Required profile

• Minimum one year of community college education; medical terminology course preferred.
• At least one year of administrative or business experience, preferably in a health‑care setting.
• Successful completion of Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre’s PAA training program.
• Commitment to a person‑centred care approach and ability to work in a fast‑paced, unpredictable environment.
• Strong problem‑solving, interpersonal and written/oral communication skills.
• Ability to work effectively within an interprofessional team.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Microsoft Word and Windows operating system.
• Accurate keyboarding speed of at least 40 words per minute (or 106 keystrokes per minute).
• Data‑entry competence using standard software packages.
