Part-Time Registered Nurse – Forensic Treatment Unit

About the role

The Royal is seeking a part‑time Registered Nurse (0.5 FTE) to join the Forensic Treatment Unit at Brockville Mental Health Centre. This regular position works a flexible schedule that includes days, nights and weekends, providing specialised mental health care for individuals involved in the criminal justice system.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver nursing assessments, interventions and ongoing care to forensic patients.
• Collaborate with an interdisciplinary team to develop and implement treatment plans.
• Monitor and document patient progress, medication administration, and safety concerns.
• Ensure compliance with the Mental Health Act, relevant legislation and nursing standards.
• Respond promptly to emergencies and provide CPR/BCLS as needed.

Required profile

• Current registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario.
• Up to three months of nursing experience, preferably in mental health or addiction.
• Knowledge of mental health, addiction issues and related medical complications.
• Understanding of the Mental Health Act and related legislation.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills in English; bilingual French/English is an asset.

Required skills

• CPR (BCLS) certification within the past 12 months.
