Part-time Professor, Child and Youth Care

About the role

The Department of Human Services & Community Safety seeks a part‑time professor to develop and deliver a course within the Child and Youth Care program. Teaching will take place on‑site at the Barrie campus, with flexible scheduling for day or evening classes.

Key responsibilities

• Design, deliver, and assess a Child and Youth Care course.
• Develop curriculum and learning materials aligned with program objectives.
• Utilise diverse teaching and learning strategies to meet varied student needs.
• Evaluate student progress and provide constructive feedback.
• Participate in departmental, program, and college activities, including program revisions and renewal processes.
• Foster a positive, inclusive learning environment.

Required profile

• Diploma or degree in Child and Youth Care; a Master’s degree in a related field is preferred.
• Current member (or eligible) of the Ontario Association of Child & Youth Care (OACYC).
• Minimum five years of Child and Youth Care experience across at least two different milieus (e.g., residential, community, education, justice).
• At least five years of experience in strengths‑based, trauma‑informed practice, community development, advocacy, or related areas.
• Three years of post‑secondary teaching and curriculum development experience, or equivalent facilitation experience.
• Demonstrated commitment to equity, diversity, inclusion, and decolonization.

Required skills

• Proficiency with MS Office.
• Comfort using learning management systems and other teaching delivery applications.
