Part Time Pharmacy Assistant

About the role

The Pharmacy Assistant works under the direct supervision of a pharmacist to support prescription filling and administrative tasks. This part‑time position ensures that the pharmacist can focus on patient care while maintaining high standards of customer service and regulatory compliance.

Key responsibilities

• Receive and verify prescriptions for completeness and legal compliance.
• Enter patient and prescription data into the pharmacy computer system, perform price checks and generate reports.
• Assist in filling prescriptions, conduct accuracy checks (7‑point, visual, DIN), label and organize items for pharmacist verification.
• Maintain inventory levels, pull expired medications, process returns and place orders with preferred wholesalers.
• Perform general housekeeping, keep the dispensary clean and stocked with supplies.
• Handle clerical duties such as filing prescriptions, invoices and correspondence.
• Support over‑the‑counter operations, including stocking, cashier duties and customer assistance.

Required profile

• Ability to follow provincial pharmacy regulations and company policies.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy in medication handling.
• Team‑oriented attitude with a focus on superior customer service.
• Willingness to work under pharmacist supervision in a fast‑paced environment.

Required skills

• Data entry and computer functions for pharmacy software.
• Prescription processing, including interpretation of Latin abbreviations and dosage calculations.
• Inventory control and use of the Telxon gun for order handling.
• Price checking, report generation and patient profile management.
