Part-time Lecturer – Modern Languages & Literatures

About the role

The Department of Modern Languages & Literatures seeks three part‑time, stipendiary lecturers for the Winter 2027 semester (January 6 – April 9, 2027). Candidates may apply to teach one or more of the listed Spanish courses, delivering high‑quality instruction to small groups of students.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and deliver lectures for SPAN 1811, SPAN 3111, and/or SPAN 3331 according to the scheduled times.
• Develop course materials, assignments, and assessments aligned with departmental standards.
• Engage with students in a 10‑30 enrolment environment, providing feedback and academic support.
• Maintain office hours and be available for student consultations.
• Contribute to departmental meetings and curriculum development as needed.

Required profile

• Completed M.A. or Ph.D. in Hispanic Studies or an equivalent discipline.
• Demonstrated expertise in Latin American studies is preferred.
• Prior university‑level teaching experience is highly valued.
• Ability to teach in‑person on campus; online instruction will also be considered.

Required skills

• Strong command of Spanish language and literature.
• Effective classroom communication and presentation abilities.
• Experience designing syllabi and assessment tools for higher‑education courses.
