Part-time Lecturer – Advanced Topics in Accounting

About the role

The Ron Joyce Centre for Business Studies invites applications for a part‑time, stipendiary appointment to teach COMM 4101 – Advanced Topics in Accounting during the Winter term 2027. The course runs Tuesdays and Thursdays, 10:00 am–11:20 am, with approximately 30 undergraduate students.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver lectures and facilitate discussions on advanced accounting theory and its business applications.
• Prepare and update the course syllabus, readings, assignments, and assessments.
• Evaluate student work and provide timely feedback.
• Adapt delivery mode (in‑person, hybrid, or fully online) as needed.
• Maintain office hours and support student learning.

Required profile

• Strong commitment to undergraduate teaching.
• Ph.D. or master’s degree in accounting or a related field (preferred); CPA designation also considered.
• Knowledge of topics such as standard setting, partnerships, government and not‑for‑profit accounting, corporate liquidation, bankruptcies, trusts and estates.
• Canadian citizenship or permanent residency (priority).
