Part-Time Building Maintenance Technician

About the role

We are seeking a reliable Part‑Time Building Maintenance Technician to support the Property Manager and the full‑time Property Maintenance Lead at a residential property in the Kitchener‑Waterloo area. Working on a scheduled and on‑call basis, you will help keep the building safe, functional and welcoming for residents.

Key responsibilities

• Respond to maintenance requests and emergency calls during assigned coverage periods.
• Perform minor repairs and coordinate work related to plumbing, electrical, HVAC and general upkeep.
• Conduct basic inspections of building systems, common areas and vacant units as needed.
• Oversee contractors and external service providers when required.
• Maintain cleanliness of common areas, including snow removal and exterior upkeep.
• Communicate professionally with tenants, addressing inquiries or concerns promptly.
• Record completed work and provide updates to the Property Manager.
• Identify safety hazards and ensure compliance with health and safety standards.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

Required profile

• Basic working knowledge of plumbing, electrical, HVAC and general maintenance repairs.
• Previous experience in building or property maintenance is an asset.
• Strong communication and customer‑service skills.
• Ability to work independently and respond effectively to urgent situations.
• Physically able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
• Reliable, flexible schedule with on‑call availability.
