Paralegal – Commercial Law Support

About the role

Sobeys Inc., one of Canada’s leading grocery retailers, is seeking a motivated Paralegal to support its commercial legal counsel and business teams across finance, operations, and franchise development. The role offers the chance to work on a variety of commercial agreements and collaborate with stakeholders nationwide.

Key responsibilities

• Draft, prepare, and manage contracts such as purchase promises, affiliation, securities, supply, loan, lease agreements and related resolutions.
• Conduct legal research, follow‑up on findings, and ensure timely completion of tasks.
• Coordinate the signing process for legal documents with authorized representatives and external parties.
• Serve as primary contact for internal and external stakeholders on assigned files.
• Create and maintain reference documents, file follow‑ups, and ensure an organized physical and electronic filing system.

Required profile

• Formal training in legal techniques or a related legal field.
• Minimum of 2 years experience as a paralegal in commercial or corporate law.
• Fluent written and spoken French and English.
• Ability to work collaboratively with teams across multiple provinces.
• Strong initiative, autonomy, and excellent organizational skills.
• Capacity to handle high‑volume workloads and tight schedules.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite.
• Experience using legal research tools such as REQ and RDPRM.
• Contract drafting and review expertise.
