Operator 1 – Parks & Trails (North Whiteshell)

About the role

The Manitoba Department of Environment and Climate Change is seeking an Operator 1 to support park maintenance and trail grooming at North Whiteshell Provincial Park/Nutimik Lake. You will work under the Park Works Supervisor, operating a variety of seasonal equipment to keep the park safe and accessible.

Key responsibilities

• Operate specialized mowers, light motor vehicles, tractors and garbage packers.
• Drive and manage snow‑grooming equipment such as Bombardier BR180, Camo Trooper and Prinoth Husky.
• Operate skid steers, track loaders, wheeled loaders and mini‑hoe excavators for trail and facility work.
• Perform routine maintenance and minor repairs on all equipment.
• Maintain accurate daily operating and maintenance records.

Required profile

• Experience operating light to heavy‑duty equipment (3‑ton trucks, loaders, backhoes, garbage packers, skid steers, excavators).
• Proven ability to maintain equipment and follow Workplace Health & Safety practices.
• Strong interpersonal skills for teamwork and public interaction.
• Experience with riding mowers, ATVs, ORVs, snowmobiles or Argo vehicles.
• Ability to work independently with good organizational and time‑management skills.
