Onsite IT Support Technician – Fort McMurray

About the role

Our client is looking for an experienced Onsite IT Support Technician to provide hands‑on technical assistance to end users at their Fort McMurray location. This contract position requires a self‑sufficient professional who can manage day‑to‑day issues while collaborating with a remote IT team for escalations.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver onsite support for hardware, software and IT‑related issues.
• Troubleshoot desktops, laptops, printers, peripherals and other end‑user devices.
• Administer user accounts in Active Directory, handling maintenance and access tasks.
• Assist with Microsoft Exchange and Outlook problems, including email connectivity.
• Respond to service‑desk tickets, walk‑up requests and daily incidents.
• Escalate complex issues to the remote IT team and coordinate resolutions.
• Maintain consistent onsite coverage to ensure timely issue resolution.
• Collaborate with remote infrastructure teams on escalated incidents.
• Provide technical guidance and excellent customer service to employees.
• Support general desktop and endpoint troubleshooting within a Microsoft environment.

Required profile

• Proven experience in onsite/desktop/technical support.
• Strong hands‑on experience with Active Directory, Microsoft Exchange and Outlook.
• Solid troubleshooting background for desktops, laptops, peripherals and hardware.
• Excellent customer service and communication skills for non‑technical users.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Experience managing ticket‑based support and prioritising multiple issues.
• Valid Canadian work authorization.

What we offer

• Contract length minimum 3 months, full‑time (8 hour shifts, Mon‑Fri).
• Hourly rate of $50 CAD (T4) or $60 CAD inclusive.
