Non-Tenure Renewable Contract Instructor – Archival Studies

About the role

The School of Library and Information Studies at the University of Alabama seeks a full‑time, non‑tenure‑track renewable contract instructor to teach archival studies beginning August 16, 2023. The position focuses on graduate education and supports both online and face‑to‑face delivery.

Key responsibilities

• Teach three graduate courses each semester, with at least two delivered online.
• Cover core archival studies topics such as introduction to archival studies, archival theory, appraisal, and representation.
• Develop new courses to meet evolving LIS program needs.
• Assist with the administration of the SLIS EBSCO Scholars Program and related outreach.
• Advise master’s‑level graduate students.
• Participate in professional service within the college, university, and professional associations.

Required profile

• Earned master’s degree in Library and Information Science or a cognate field from a regionally accredited university.
• Minimum three years of professional or teaching experience in archival studies core areas.
• Demonstrated experience teaching diverse, non‑traditional student populations.
• Proven ability to deliver synchronous online graduate or professional development courses.
